Jonah is NOT the main character in this story…God is.
When looking at our life, we have to come to a place where we say “God, this is all about You”. If we can come to that place, life becomes so much more purposeful and meaningful.
• Jonah decides to ignore God’s ______________ and flees. He runs. He goes in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord.
• Your decision to run does not _____________ only you. (Jonah 1:4-5)
It’s the people close to us, the people we care about, that are caught
in consequences of our decision.
Three Reasons We Decide to Run
*We fear the ____________ of actually obeying God.
*God’s calling is always motivated by love.
*Love will cast out fear and anxiety in your life.
*Jonah was full of pride. He ran because he thought he was ________ than the wicked people of Nineveh.
*While our hearts are full of pride, we cannot see it.
*It’s only by the grace of God that later we are convicted by the Holy Spirit and realize how much pride was actually in our hearts.
*Unforgiveness is rooted in pride.
*How do we solve pride? The way we combat pride is praise.
*When pain comes into your life, __________ is whom you should
to, not run from.
*Maybe you have been on the run from God for days, months or
even years. Maybe you are thinking of giving up. I want to
encourage you… DON’T!
The Good News
• The good news is… no matter how far you run, God is in
____________________ of you.
• God will always ________________ a way for you to return to Him.
Now the Lord had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah.
And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights.
